Engel Printing Company began in 1988 as the passion project of Thumb native, Paul Engel, former owner of the Minden City Herald. Paul worked in print shops around the thumb for most of his life before deciding to open his own shop alongside the family owned newspaper. Engel Printing Company now has a team of 3, Paul, and Nathan and Amber Marks, Paul’s grandchildren, who purchased the newspaper in 2020 and the print shop in 2021. Paul remains the principal pressman, using his years of experience to run the shop’s offset presses and other printing equipment. Amber runs the offset presses alongside Paul, as well as handles all graphic design, job finishing, purchasing, customer service and delivery. Nathan focuses most of his time on writing for the newspaper, but has been known to help in the print shop with large jobs to keep our turnaround times quick.

We are a family run business with a passion for printing and making our customers happy. We strive to be a friendly and ENGAGING bunch to work with and enjoy connecting with our customers on a professional and personal level. We love feedback and are constantly adapting to make sure that our customers’ needs are taken care of. We may be a small operation, but we have big work ethic and easily manage many large print accounts including Mckenzie Health Systems, Sheldon Medical Supply, Huron and Tuscola County Health Departments, Sanilac Community Mental Health, and Huron Behavioral Health, to name a few.

We attend to our print customers with QUALITY in mind every step of the way. We use only the best materials sourced from a handful of trusted stock suppliers and hold ourselves to the highest standard of service to ensure that every job that leaves the shop exceeds expectations. That said, we never charge extravagantly. We are not out to get rich here. Our services are COMPETITIVELY PRICED, to say the least! We charge just enough to cover our costs, put some food on the table, and keep our customer’s coming back for great quality printing at the best price around. Again, printing is a passion for us; we take pride in our work and love serving our neighbors and local community with prices that meet every budget.

We are incredibly RESPONSIVE to the needs of our customers and can be available by phone or email at any time. We make regular visits to our customers to pick up job samples and talk through job specifics in person when needed. Our turnaround time for most print jobs is 1-2 weeks after proof approval, with the occasional specialty job that can take slightly longer. We offer free personal delivery anywhere in the Thumb and can schedule deliveries around your schedule to make sure that you have your printed materials before you need them.

In addition to offering the best printed products, we also offer CREATIVE design and set up services. Amber is trained in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop and has designed such materials as the Harbor Beach Chamber of Commerce Visitor Guide, the Sanilac Broadcasting Summer Fairs & Festivals Book, the Croswell-Lexington Chamber Visitor Brochure, and more. Amber’s experience in the sales and marketing world provide her with a keen eye for professional and eye-catching design as well as functionality.

We love working side-by-side with our customer’s to make sure that all final printed materials are exactly what they want. We regularly share proofs for review and collaboration via email, FileZilla, OneDrive, and Drop Box. For our customer’s who are not as TECHNOLOGICALLY SAVVY, we schedule in-person meetings to discuss the specifics of a job and brainstorm design ideas.

Engel Printing is located in downtown Minden City and is equipped with a  Xerox wide format digital printer, 3 commercial offset printing presses, a functional antique Heidelberg automatic letterpress, and various finishing equipment. In addition to this, we are also a Navitor Wholesale supplier and can offer inexpensive solutions for all other printed products such as folders, banners, signs, and personalized merch.
